Wake-on-LAN setup
"Power on" in the staff app sends a Wake-on-LAN "magic packet" to a PC that is switched off. The packet can only travel inside your cafe's network, so another RigPass PC that is on (or the small LAN relay in client/relay) broadcasts it for the server. If every PC is off and no relay runs, Power on cannot work.
1. BIOS / UEFI (each PC)
- Enter BIOS (Del / F2 at boot).
- Enable Wake on LAN / Power On By PCI-E / Resume by LAN (name depends on the board).
- Disable ErP / EuP Ready / "Deep sleep" (they cut power to the network card).
- Save and exit.
2. Windows
- Device Manager → Network adapters → your Ethernet adapter → Properties.
- Power Management: tick "Allow this device to wake the computer" and "Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer".
- Advanced: set "Wake on Magic Packet" = Enabled, "Shutdown Wake-On-Lan" = Enabled (if present), "Energy Efficient Ethernet" = Disabled.
- Control Panel → Power Options → "Choose what the power buttons do" → untick Turn on fast startup.
3. Network
- Use a wired Ethernet connection. Wi-Fi wake is not supported on most PCs.
- Keep the PCs and the relay/online PC on the same LAN/VLAN, since routers do not forward broadcasts.
- Shut PCs down normally (Start → Shut down, or "Shut down" in the staff app); after a power cut, many boards need one manual power-on first.
4. Check it
- Open RigPass Client once on each PC so the server learns its MAC address(es). The PCs page shows them.
- Shut one PC down, then press Power on on its card in the staff app (or Power on all PCs).
- If it does not start: re-check BIOS ErP and fast startup, and make sure another RigPass PC or the relay was online.
